It's not so often a song comes along that makes you want to stop everything you're doing, put your ipod on repeat and contemplate just how much your emotions are being manipulated in a thousand different ways by the singer's raw talent and emotion. Rarer still when you finally get around to watching the video and you find out it's a stunningly-designed clip that perfectly matches the song's epic tones. God, if ever there were a reason to come up with a moodboard based on a music video... industrial lighting in an ornate space; minimalist glasses of water filled and lined up meticulously; descimated white porcelain; chalk being blown around by a dancer in slow motion; LOUIS CHAIRS FOR DAYS!
Yes, it's all there. You should stop everything you're doing and watch.

What's the perfect spot to photograph the Jens Risom walnut armchair you're selling on Craigslist you ask? Why, on your new ebony-stained floors of course. That's right... we went there. But only in the bedroom. In our last place we had a guest room that we painted black, but looking back that seems like overkill. You might argue that staining your floors black with Minwax's Polyshades in Classic Black is a bit of overkill, but we'll just have to go tomato, tomäto on this one.

via An Afternoon With...
Isn't it disgusting when professional photographers start blogs as side projects that absolutely blow everyone else out of the water with their perfection and effortlessness? Well case in point boys and girls: An Afternoon With... by Michael Mundy is a blog to be reckoned with. In our estimation it's actually the best example out there of this particular genre... what I guess you call the home tour blog. At any rate, STUDY is crushing on An Afternoon With... and soon you will too.

We haven't decided on a theme for 2011 as of yet, but judging by the looks of things, The Year of Comfort and Lounging is definitely in the running thanks to our new Rens sheepskin rug from IKEA. Not that we don't plan on being insanely productive and ambitious in the coming year... as they say, it's not about working harder, it's about working smarter. Which I plan on doing while burying my feet in this glorious hide for a few hours*.

This post was supposed to go up, oh, on December 31st and the above image was supposed to be a nifty clickable image map, but seeing as how time gets sucked into a enormous metaphorical vacuum this time of year, January 3rd will have to suffice. For those of you who've been here from the beginning, thanks for sticking around! And for those of you who've just joined us, welcome - why don't we take a look back at what was going on in the world of STUDY in 2010.
