To Market, To Market

QuistHolders1
Set of Two Brutalist Quist Taper Candle Holders

Quick update today... {shop} STUDY is filling out nicely since we've been filling it up with some recent finds in prep for Dose Market on Sunday, July 10th. You'll be able to get a look at these beauties in person then. Or you could just head on over to the store and snatch them up before anyone else can get their grubby mitts on 'em. More previews after the jump.

Best of the Blogs: STUDY's Week in Review - 6/24

sheilds062411V2

It's been a very exciting week here in STUDY-land thanks in large part to our Apartment Therapy house tour. At last count, our tour had over 180 likes on facebook which is truly amazing and totally gratifying seeing as how we measure our self-worth in anonymous social adulation. Gee guys... you really know how to make a couple of boys feel proud. But seriously, we strongly suggest you contact Apartment Therapy for your own house tour since it's super fun and a great excuse to clean. Who knows, if you don't offer up your own place we may just submit pictures for you.

Welcome to Our Home

After a year of work, our home finally had its debut via an Apartment Therapy house tour! When we were contacted by photographer Jason Loper a couple of months ago about doing a tour we weren't sure if the place was ready for primetime seeing as how, uh, the kitchen is still under construction, but we think Jason did a great job of emphasizing the home's strong points and kindly ignoring the kitchen. A few previews after the jump...

Best of the Blogs: STUDY's Week in Review - 6/17

studyVAR52

Got your perfect weekend in order yet? Good... us neither. But as long as it doesn't involve rioting over a hockey team (oy) or tweeting half nekkie photos to the world (vey), we think we're all in for a pretty good time. Here in Chicago there's lots to check out this weekend like Taste of Randolph Street - the non-disgusting food fest that isn't Taste of Chicago - and of course the BackGarage + Cushion Chicago Vintage Warehouse Sale. Those two events are actually pretty close to each other so after you're done stuffing your face you can pop on over to the sale. And be sure to bring them some corn dogs, will ya...

Backgarage + Cushion Chicago Vintage Warehouse Sale

Another week, another great sale. This time around the forces behind Backgarage and Cushion Chicago team up on Sunday in their west side loft space to bring you vintage furnishings at 30-50% off, which is pretty unbelievable considering that they typically have excellent prices to begin with. In case you don't know, Backgarage is headed up by Vintage Bazaar co-founder Katherine Raz and Cushion Chicago is brought to you by vintage dealer and Vintage Bazaar vendor, Sarah Polster. We made it to the last sale these two had in early 2011 and were blown away most everything offered, but most of all we were more than a little envious of their new workspace.

The Post of a Thousand Exclamation Marks

MichAveMag_3spread

If you follow us on twitter or facebook you no doubt already heard that STUDY was in Michigan Avenue Magazine! We promise we'll shut up about it already, but we wanted to share this through every possible media outlet with our readers since it's the first time we've been in print! We love the picture Michigan Avenue chose and we can't thank the team over at Dose Market enough for the shout out. More shameless self-promotion after the jump.

Our Friday roundup may have been MIA last week, but that's because Andrew and I were busy with respective trips to Los Angeles and Rhode Island. You couldn't get two more dissimilar destinations. While I was busy roaming the ridiculously quaint College Hill neighborhood, Andrew was visiting Rafael Moneo's postmodern Cathedral of Our Lady of Angels. Then we managed to make it back to Chicago for Sunday's Dose Market. Somewhere in the middle we perused a blog or two.

Amazing Sales

Weekends in Chicago were made for sales and this one coming up promises to be an absolutely stellar excuse to drop a few bills on vintage furnishings. We're forgoing our usual weekend estate sale route in favor of hitting up these markets and sales starting with the not to be missed Amazing Space Sale in Oak Park.

STUDY Goes Dose

IMG_0143

If you were anywhere near the River East Arts Center last Sunday you'll know what we've been up to. STUDY was lucky enough to be one of the inaugural exhibitors at Dose Market - a brand new monthly market that brings together Chicago's artisan food, fashion and design communities into one fantastic space right on the lake. Full disclosure: we had no idea what to expect since the majority of vendors were either in the food or fashion categories, but well, well, WELL... after hour one at Dose we were complete and total converts.
