We're Obsessed: Wheat Sheaf
If a coffee table reduces you to lying on the floor for hours at a time just so you can check out its sheaf-y, golden, sexiness... then maybe it's not such a good coffee table. But for better or worse, that's all we've been able to do at Casa STUDY. It all started with a Craigslist search last week for a "gold sheaf table" and next thing we knew, Andrew and I were road-tripping it up to Madison just so we could pick up a decades-old grain-inspired piece of coffee table perfection.
DING! What more can I say? I am smitten.
Our seller was a very kind contractor from greater-Madison who is in the process of selling off his mother's estate. He described the table as having, "sat in [his mom's] living room for years, but it was never used." A lot of "thank you's" and $150 dollars later, this leggy beauty was ours.
Lady Sheafy's in good company too since Coco Chanel and her Rue Cambon apartment were a huge contributor to this table's notoriety.

Chanel's famous love for wheat and it's good luck properties were also the inspiration for Karl Lagerfeld's 2010 Spring/Summer collection for Chanel (see: lots o' embroidered wheat on jackets).

What's also great about picking up a Craigslist find 150 miles from home is that you also have a great excuse for an early-Fall road trip. Golden sheaf table in tow, the Wisconsin capitol was our second destination:
At the end of the day my peculiar need to visit state capitols was sated - along with our need for a shiny new coffee table - and all was right with universe/wheat-coffee-table-seekers.
