Something Wicked This Way Comes or A Mad Scientist Takes Over Our Home

Girl 1: People invite us to parties because they know we have a good time. We're mad.

Designers are notorious for blathering on about how they take inspiration from nature and infuse it into their work. In preparation for Halloween, STUDY decided to go one better last week when we just started taking nature from the sidewalk and making it our work.

You see, we're getting ready for this party that has essentially taken on a life of its own. At this point we're both ready to quit our day jobs just so we can devote 16 hour spans to hanging branches in our foyer to look like they're growing out of the wall.

What started out as a simple suggestion from a friend to throw a little Halloween get-together has turned into a mad scientist-themed extravaganza - although there's still some debate over whether he's more of a scientist or a warlock, but pot-ato, po-tat-o, right?

Basically our party's conceit is that there's this mad scientist who has a fairly orderly and well-appointed - if not spooky - lab but lets the rest of his house go to pot. Sure the entry has branches growing into it, but this is just the beginning. The bathroom really seals the deal since there's a full-sized tree coming through the floor and growing up through the room. Did we forget to mention that he uses the bathroom as an aviary? Oh yes, he does.

Aforementioned mad scientist also likes to entertain so he keeps the dining room fairly tidy - where we'll be serving food obviously - but this doesn't mean he can't have approximately a million candles going at once, a glass-domed skull on the buffet and menacing looking cutlery lying about. We promise to post more pictures from the day of the party and/or once everything is in place, but since we still need the tub to be functional, that tree is yet to be installed. In the meantime, here are a few more teasers:
