House walks are one thing, but let's take it to the next level now, shall we? It's all about chicken coops this weekend during Hen-apalooza, a free, self-guided tour of 15 coop locations throughout Chicago. This Sunday from 10am to 3pm you'll be able to take in the latest and greatest in Chicagoans taking sustainable breakfast to the next level.
In full disclosure, coops aren't really my thing, but Andrew is a strong proponent. It's not that I'm against chickens or anything, but they just tend to be a little, well:
You get the idea.
That's why we're all over the Nogg from furniture designer/engineer, Matthew Hayward and creative director for the project, Nadia Turan. According to the Nogg site, "chicken keeping has become a huge trend in the last 18 months," which may or may not be little laughable since it's been going on for, oh, thousands of years. What I think they meant to say is, "chicken keeping has become a huge trend with neo-granola hipsters in the last 18 months." That's a-okay by us though, if this is the output.

Now, we can't promise you'll see an egg-shaped beauty like the Nogg on this weekend's tour (it's available by special order from the UK), but you can check out the homes of some forward-thinking neighbors who don't have to travel to a Whole Foods to pick up a few organic eggs.
