TVB Preview: The Eagle Has Landed
As the next Vintage Bazaar fast approaches this coming weekend, we're hunkered down here at STUDY HQ polishing, sanding, lacquering... doing everything we can to bring you some truly unique vintage gifts for the holidays. One of our favorites so far is a monumental neoclassical lamp found at an estate sale in Skokie. That's right - neoclassical and Skokie - bet you never thought you'd see those two words written in the same sentence. More on this lamp's humble origins after the jump.
When found, the lamp was without a shade, had one lightbulb - it accommodates two - and had a particularly offensive honey-colored finish. Obviously some sanding was in order:
We're getting there.
And then some paint.
Hopefully it reads in the low light, but the color Andrew picked out is actually a very grey Federal blue - perfect for offsetting our brassy bad boy perched on top, and delicate brass banding below the orb:
One white linen shade later, and the look is complete. Democracy is great and all, but it's lamps like these that make you proud to be an American. Come and find out just how patriotic you can be this weekend when STUDY hits The Vintage Bazaar in Logan Square!
